Beth Ditto Recites Frank Ocean’s Poem “Boyfriend”
During a two-hour show on BBC Radio 6 Music for the station’s “Loud and Proud” weekend, Gossip singer Beth Ditto recited Frank Ocean's poem "Boyfriend" from the Boys Don't Cry magazine.
After playing his Channel Orange song “Thinkin Bout You,” she notes, “Despite the rising visibility of queer singers, it’s not that common to hear a major mainstream artist acknowledge same sex love in a song, or in Ocean’s case, a poem.” She then recites from the poem, which appeared last year in his limited edition Boys Don’t Cry zine.
