Alleged design for a Frank Ocean signature sneaker surfaces

According to one Redditor who purports to have worked in a shoe factory in Indonesia, Frank Ocean has a signature sneaker in development.

Details are thin, but the poster had this to say:

there’s 2 version of them, hi-top & low-top. would be released probably (if i’m not mistaken) this december, us only. sorry i forgot what it’s called, only remember it’d named something like ‘1989’.

In 2015, unpublished images were pulled from Frank Ocean's website including a design for a still-unseen pair of Vans Sk8-Hi sneakers.

Play COMME des GARÇONS x Converse (2015)

In the image posted, there is no brand name, but we can see a hightop shoe with a strap and a thick, uniform midsole. Noted in the margin to the rear of the sole are the letters 'PCDG.' It's possible this stands for PLAY COMME des GARÇONS which, with the physical appearance in the design, could indicate a new collaboration between the CDG brand and Converse. That scribble could notate where the brand name should be stamped in the rubber.
