In a press release this afternoon, Frank Ocean revealed that he has planned a series of dance parties dubbed PrEP+, named after the HIV prevention drug of the same name. The first of these events would take place on October 17th, 2019 at a venue announced that day. This venue ended up being the newly opened BASEMENT at Knockdown Center in NYC.

From the press release:

PrEP+ is the first in a series of nights; an ongoing safe space made to bring people together and dance. PrEP+ will welcome globally celebrated DJs. PrEP+ welcomes everyone.

Tickets for the event were distributed by the performers.

The event was hosted by Frank Ocean with DJ performances from Bouffant Bouffant, Justice, Sango, and Sherelle. SXYLK, who was originally set to perform, posted their full set on Soundcloud. You can listen to it below.

Update: In a comment to The Fader, SXYLK said that they were cut from the bill and that “Justice was everything, but the party was lacking in actual queer underground DJs. Brooklyn is becoming the new Portland and industry heavyweights should run in the opposite direction.”

Two new Frank Ocean songs were played at the party with titles confirmed in a vinyl drop for both of the singles. These are “Cayendo (Sango Remix)” and “Dear April (Justice Remix).” A Sango remix of “Nights” was also played.

The PrEP+ poster feature lettering by Nejc Prah and photography by Michael Marcelle. The model for this event’s poster is Joël Kurasinski.
