Frank Ocean releases ‘Nostalgia, Ultra’

Nostalgia, ULTRA Album Art

Frank Ocean has self-released his debut mixtape, Nostalgia, Ultra (stylized nostalgia, ULTRA). The Odd Future crooner signed with Def Jam in 2009, but the relationship between Frank and the label hasn’t been particularly solid.

In 2010, Frank joined Odd Future, a group of young hip-hop newcomers led by Tyler, The Creator. He first appeared on Domo Genesis’ song “SteamRoller” from their album Rolling Papers. It was during this time that he recorded the mixtape, which samples music from Coldplay, Radiohead, MGMT, Mr. Hudson, and The Eagles.

The post on Ocean’s Tumblr includes a MediaFire link to a ZIP file containing the album’s tracks, additional artwork, and a note titled “thank yous,” which reads:

Thanks to god, my moms & every single one of you fucking people who’ve helped me out over the years. —Frank.

Ocean followed up with a second post, linking to a ZIP file containing lyrics in RTF format.
