Frank Ocean releases “Novacane” digital single

Frank Ocean has released “Novacane” as a single from the forthcoming re-release of Nostalgia, Ultra as an EP through Def Jam. The mixtape version, which contains samples that didn't get cleared for sale, was released in February. Frank made it clear that the label wasn't behind him after signing, but they sure seem to be paying attention now.

The Recording Industry Association of America awarded Frank Ocean a platinum plaque for his 2011 single “Novacane” after selling one million units. The platinum record arrives alongside three gold certifications for Ocean’s 2012 singles “Lost,” “Pyramids,” and “Super Rich Kids,” each of which sold half a million units.
"Everything that we did together built that up. But it was just genuinely from being fans, liking what each other was doing and then making good music.
Their video for "Novacane" was a hit.
Henley (via his music label Rhino) sent Ocean a letter instructing him to stop performing the 2011 Nostalgia Ultra track “American Wedding,” which samples his rock band’s 1976 song. The notice also asks him to take it offline and publicly “express his admiration for Mr. Henley.” In a Tumblr post, Ocean describes this as an overreaction to an “homage” from which he hasn’t profited.
Following its music video debut, the song is now the second digital single released through Def Jam from Ocean’s debut project, Nostalgia Ultra.
The production is Def Jam’s second video adaptation from Ocean’s debut project, Nostalgia Ultra, which he released independently last February. It features direction by Nabil Elderkin.
The mixtape features another reused beat from fellow Odd Future member Tyler, The Creator.

Frank Ocean accompanied Tyler, The Creator to the LA Leakers' studio for a quick interview about his favorite songs on Nostalgia, ULTRA and his plans for tour.
Fans have compiled numerous reference tracks that have leaked online into a mixtape. Frank Ocean clarifies their origin in a Tumblr post.

Ocean shared the tape on Tumblr. It samples music from Coldplay, Radiohead, MGMT, Mr. Hudson, and The Eagles.
Frank Ocean has dropped a new track on his SoundCloud and Tumblr called “Nature Feels.” He included a note about the song on his blog that read: “[this] an old remix I did to MGMT’s ‘Electric Feel.’ Can you guess that voice in the background?”
