Jay-Z and Kanye West release 'Watch The Throne'
Rappers Jay-Z and Kanye West have released their joint record, Watch The Throne. Frank Ocean features on two tracks, “No Church In The Wild” and “Made in America.”
Jay-Z and Kanye West have collaborated since 2001 on Jay-Z’s “This Can’t Be Life” with Kanye producing the track. It was Beyoncé that recommended Frank be involved in the project following the release of Nostalgia Ultra and Frank’s writing contributions on her new self-titled record as well as Jay’s Magna Carta Holy Grail.
On the collaboration, Frank tells Hot 97’s Angie Martinez:
I rarely do collabs, so that's just one of the ones you absolutely do. It's like a no-brainer. I didn't really think about any of it. The last thing on my mind was working with artists who I've held in high esteem for years. I worked with Jay on his solo album before I did the Watch the Throne sessions. The second time I went it was Barry Weiss, Jay, Beyoncé, Kanye, couple other people, it was a pretty heavy room.
[In] the initial walk in… he wasn’t saying anything and I was nervous, but as soon as we started talking, he’s super cool. I think he was trying to make me nervous, make me sweat. It seemed a little intentional, but it was all good. We were laughing within minutes.
