Auntie Fee shares funny story about Frank Ocean in his magazine

Auntie Fee interview (Untitled), Boys Don’t Cry, p. 6.

Frank Ocean’s new magazine, Boys Don’t Cry, features a brief exchange with chef and YouTube personality Felicia “Auntie Fee” O’Dell. The interviewer’s name is not provided and simply labeled “???.” Auntie Fee tells a story about rescuing Ocean late one night, when he was stranded on Interstate 10 in Los Angeles, California:

He always had a habit of running out of gas and he runs out of gas at 2:30 in the morning on the Santa Monica Freeway, OK?

The tale follows the magazine’s opening letter, on the previous two pages, where Ocean references running out of gas:

We drove thru downtown LA headed west, flying on the same freeways I used to run outta gas on.

Auntie Fee is either Ocean‘s relative or a close family friend; the extent of their relationship is unclear. Notably, Ocean appeared in a video posted to Auntie Fee’s YouTube channel in June 2015, in which she begs him to sing “Happy Birthday” to her.

Transcript:

???: When was the last time you saw Frank?

Auntie Fee: Let me tell you the last time I saw him. He always had a habit of running out of gas and he runs out of gas at 2:30 in the morning on the Santa Monica Freeway, OK? He calls about 10 people to come get him and nobody would come get him. He calls me at 2:30 in the morning. I say, ‘Okay, not a problem.’ I get up out of my bed, get my AAA [roadside assistance], get him off the freeway, get him to the nearest gas station, put gas in his car and give him $20. I never seen him since. Except one time.

???: Do you have a computer?

Auntie Fee: Motherfucker, do I have a computer? What about “Hello Auntie”? What the fuck is wrong with you!
