Chanel uses Frank Ocean’s lyrics in new Instagram adverts
The French fashion house Chanel paid homage to Frank Ocean and his eponymous single “Chanel” in two Instagram posts, captioned: “We see both sides like Frank.” The captions and first advert reference the song’s refrain, “I see both sides like Chanel.” The second ad juxtaposes images of the ocean and land, with one featuring a bottle of Chanel No. 5 L’eau—the perfume’s name means “water” in French. The Instagram posts are part of the brand’s #YouKnowMeAndYouDont marketing campaign for its new L’eau fragrance. A spokesperson for the company told The Fader over email:
This is simply our way of acknowledging his nod to Chanel in his latest single.
The single “Chanel” premiered on March 10, 2017, during the second episode of Ocean’s Apple Music program, Blonded Radio.
