“Chanel” certified RIAA platinum
The Recording Industry Association of America has awarded Frank Ocean a platinum plaque for his 2017 single “Chanel” after selling one million song units. The song debuted on March 10, 2017, as the first song released by Ocean’s first independent record label, Blonded. It now represents Ocean’s third RIAA platinum record, after his 2011 single “Novacane” and 2016 album Blonde.
Both the gold and platinum certifications for “Chanel” arrived on the same day, indicating that the single surpassed the half-million-unit threshold for gold at an unknown earlier date.
