The Recording Industry Association of America has awarded Frank Ocean a platinum plaque for his 2011 single “Novacane” after selling one million song units since its release by Island Def Jam. “Novacane” first appeared on Ocean’s debut 2011 album Nostalgia Ultra. It was re-released by Def Jam as a digital single on May 31, 2011, followed by a music video. Ocean previously received a gold plaque for “Novacane” on April 10, 2014. Now, the song Ocean’s second platinum certification, after his 2012 single “Thinkin Bout You.”

“Lost,” “Pyramids,” and “Super Rich Kids” were all released as promotional singles for Ocean’s 2012 album Channel Orange. The album itself previously reached gold status on January 30, 2013. “Lost” and “Pyramids” both received music videos, whereas Def Jam only released “Super Rich Kids” as a radio single. “Super Rich Kids” achieved gold certification on October 12, 2016, two months before the awards for the other singles.
