Earl Sweatshirt releases ‘Doris’ with two Frank Ocean features

Earl Sweatshirt released his debut studio album Doris with two songs featuring Frank Ocean, “Sunday” and “Hoarse.” Tan Cressida (Earl’s imprint label on Columbia Records) released the record via iTunes on August 20. Ocean appears alongside fellow Odd Future mates Domo Genesis, Casey Veggies, and Tyler, The Creator, as well as OF affiliate Vince Staples, Wu-Tang Clan leader RZA, and rappers SK La’Flare and Mac Miller.

In “Sunday,” Ocean sings the second verse, final chorus, and outro with Sweatshirt. The track features production by Ocean and Sweatshirt under the alias randomblackdude. The lyrics revolve around strained relationships and drug use, summed up in the refrain:

All my dreams got more vivid when I stopped smokin’ pot
Nightmares got more vivid when I stopped smokin’ pot
Loving you is a little different, I don’t like you a lot
I mean, f-ck

In “Hoarse”—a track named after Sweatshirt’s raspy voice—Ocean performs the hook with pitched-down vocals. The Canadian instrumental band BadBadNotGood produced the song. Ocean’s chorus includes the lines:

And it always follows autumn
No home for the weak, no insurance for your pride
Jive, jive
And it always follows autumn

Additionally, Tyler shouts out Ocean in the song “Sasquatch,” rapping in the first verse:

F-ck the block news and the venues, they can’t handle us
They can’t stand us including fruits that Frank’s channeling

Previously, Sweatshirt collaborated with Ocean on “Super Rich Kids,” a track released on Ocean’s 2012 studio album Channel Orange.
