Frank Ocean attends 2021 Met Gala with green robotic baby

Frank Ocean talks to Keke Palmer of Vogue about his green robot baby and American fashion at the 2021 Met Gala, via YouTube.

A month after the launch of his luxury brand, Homer, Frank Ocean made an appearance to remember at the 2021 Met Gala, an annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. The theme of this year’s event was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.”

Ocean arrived in a black suede, three-piece suit from Prada, paired with a white T-shirt. He topped his green hair with a hat featuring a logo for “DreamCore,” a parody of the animation company DreamWorks. A diamond-encrusted “Sphere Legs” necklace from Homer glimmered around his neck. However, the most eye-catching piece in Ocean’s ensemble was the blinking and waving prop he carried in one arm: an animatronic baby with slime-green skin, bright-blue eyes, silver dental braces, and a onesie decorated with graphics of Homer’s “Plus” pendant. When asked for the name of his plus one, Ocean answered, “Cody.”

During an interview with Vogue, Keke Palmer asked Ocean about his wardrobe and the meaning behind his little green friend; he offered the following insight:

Movie magic, America… I don’t know.

Cody may become a brand mascot for Ocean’s newborn brainchild, Homer. The doll was created by Los Angeles-based Romaire Studios, “one of the foremost providers of live-action creatures, characters, and animated props for the worldwide entertainment industry,” according to its website. Some have described Cody as a robot, while others identify him as an alien of unknown origin.

Ocean posted a series of photos from the Met Gala on Instagram, which are shown below, along with others.
