In a comment on Instagram, Frank Ocean has confirmed that Look at Us, We’re in Love—a supposedly unreleased project that has circulated online since 2022—is not a scrapped album of his, and some of the allegedly leaked tracks found in the fan-made compilations are not authentic. As Ocean implied in an earlier 2023 letter, what some fans assumed was a 2020 album was actually planned as another series of singles coinciding with a worldwide club night tour, building on the models he introduced with Blonded Radio in 2017 and his 2019 club night series PrEP+. In the same Instagram comment, Ocean also revealed that the tagline for his 2019 club nights, “Look at Us, We’re in Love,” was an early name for PrEP+.

On September 11, 2025, the Instagram account @rap.rappity shared a slideshow titled “Frank Ocean’s Unreleased Masterpiece: Look at Us, We’re in Love,” depicting a purported album originally slated for release in 2020. The post claimed the cancelled project contained a range of tracks, including: Ocean’s 2019–2021 songs “DHL,” “In My Room,” “Cayendo,” “Dear April,” and “Come On World, You Can’t Go”; his scrapped 2020 singles “Little Demon” and “These Days”; his 2019 cover of “The Weekend” by SZA; his unreleased early-2010s song “Lava”; and several unverified tracks that have circulated online since 2020, including “Feelings Gone,” “LovSome,” “Coral,” “Still Mine,” “Choices,” and “Spaceman.”

On September 22, 2025, @blonded (Frank Ocean) came across the Instagram post and responded with a comment regarding its accuracy:

Not exactly. For posterity’s sake… ‘Look at Us, We’re in Love’ was an early attempt at a title for my club nights in NYC before I decided on one [PrEP+]. Several of these [supposed tracks] are either AI-generated or holes in my memory. I’m gonna have to go with the former. The earliest work here [“Lava”] is from about 12 or 13 years ago. The album rumors date back to October 2019, when the slogan “Look at Us, We’re in Love” appeared across the top of two flyers promoting PrEP+, a series of club nights hosted by Ocean in New York City. During the events, Ocean unveiled several new singles, including “DHL,” “In My Room,” “Cayendo,” “Dear April,” and “Little Demon,” which he subsequently released on 7-inch vinyl and/or digital platforms. Upon release, fans noticed that the singles’ artwork featured a lineup of photos and outlines of Ocean in various poses, with each cover highlighting one of 17 silhouettes, seemingly representing 17 tracks. The imagery and events were widely interpreted as the rollout of Ocean’s fifth album, tentatively titled Look at Us, We’re in Love.

Later, in January 2023, Ocean clarified in an open letter that, prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, he had planned to continue releasing singles in tandem with a forthcoming worldwide club tour, building on the PrEP+ format. The pandemic, however, derailed these plans by restricting live events and limiting his ability to sell 7-inch vinyl singles. During this period of upheaval, Ocean began to reconsider the “singles model” and once again became interested in “more durational bodies of work.” He subsequently placed future releases on indefinite pause to focus on this new music project.

Despite his clarifying note in 2023, many fan-made mixtapes described as Ocean’s “unreleased 2020 album” continued to circulate online, culminating in his recent Instagram comment. In that statement, Ocean revealed for the first time that “Look at Us, We’re in Love” was an earlier name of what became PrEP+.
