Frank Ocean refunds “Little Demon” orders due to COVID-related issues
Frank Ocean’s 7-inch singles “Little Demon” and “These Days” have been stricken by a little demon: the coronavirus.
Customers who ordered the “Little Demon” vinyl from Blonded in November 2019 have received an email stating that their purchase will be refunded “due to the events of this year,” referencing the supply chain issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier, in February 2020, Blonded notified the same customers that their “Little Demon” order would be substituted with a “new, unreleased Frank Ocean song.” After months of delay, a few customers were sent copies of the unreleased single “These Days” in November, before Blonded quickly backtracked and clawed back shipments. Customers who had already received the “These Days” record were contacted by Blonded and sent a 2017 Endless LP in return for the 7-inch single.
“Little Demon” premiered at Ocean’s third PrEP+ event on October 31, 2019, when Arca played its B-side remix featuring Skepta. A snippet from the same show also appeared in episode 009 of Blonded Radio, which debuted alongside the vinyl’s sale. As of now, it remains unclear when “Little Demon” or “These Days” will be officially released. The other 7-inch singles sold by Blonded late last year—including “Cayendo,” “Dear April,” and “In My Room”—began shipping in March 2020, and remaining orders will be mailed out starting next week, along with any other undelivered PrEP+ merchandise.
The full email from Blonded concerning the refunded orders reads:
Due to the events of this year, Frank will no longer be releasing the song [Little Demon] that you purchased on vinyl.
We will be refunding your purchase of this item, and any additional items in your order will begin shipping next week.
If you have had a change of address since you originally made the purchase, please email customercare@blonded.co this week with your order number and new address.
We are grateful for your understanding and are wishing you love, positivity, and health.
Best regards, the blonded team.
