Blonded releases ‘Channel Orange’ on vinyl
Approaching 13 years since the album’s premiere, Frank Ocean listed a vinyl edition of Channel Orange for sale at $69 on blonded.co.
The double-LP gatefold features a redesigned cover by Tracy Ma with a collage of scenes from Ocean’s 2012–2014 television and public appearances—including him promoting his debut studio album and accepting his Grammy Award for the project—as well as a screenshot from his 2012 video for “Pyramids.” The artwork is an iteration of the “Smiling on TV” poster released by Blonded in July 2022, celebrating the album’s decennial anniversary. The Channel Orange logo on the LP’s jacket appears written over with permanent marker, and the “Parental Advisory” logo has been updated with more inclusive language, reading “Guardian Advisory.”
The packaging also updates the rights owner from Island Def Jam Music Group to Blonded, after Ocean purchased his master recordings from his former label in 2016. Island Def Jam originally released the project as an iTunes exclusive on July 10, 2012, followed by a CD edition (and cross-platform digital release) on July 17.
Notably, the LP is abridged to 16 tracks, omitting the instrumental track “White” with guitarist John Mayer. The song is a remix of Odd Future’s 2012 track “White,” featuring Ocean; its exclusion is likely related to difficulties procuring its publishing rights. Moreover, the CD-exclusive, hidden bonus track “Golden Girl” is also absent.
Ocean previously hinted at a Channel Orange vinyl in a 2019 interview with Dazed. Now, in 2025, his summer surprise marks the first official pressing of the album on wax. The re-release follows Blonded’s vinyl reissue of Blonde in December 2022.
