Beyoncé releases album ‘Beyoncé’ with Frank Ocean feature “Superpower”
Frank Ocean is featured in Beyoncé’s track “Superpower,” released on her self-titled, fifth studio album, Beyoncé, on December 13, 2013. The song was co-written by Ocean, Beyoncé Knowles, Jordan Asher (aka Boots), and Pharrell Williams. It debuted within the larger project’s visual album and as an individual music video, directed by Jonas Åkerlund. Ocean’s vocals are heard in the video, although he does not appear in-person.
Previously, in June 2011, Ocean appeared on Bey’s fourth studio album, 4, helping write and sing background vocals on the track “I Miss You.” After its release, Bey told Complex that her husband, Jay-Z, played one of Ocean’s songs in the car, and she immediately asked him to fly out to New York City to record music. Ocean shared a photo of them together at MSR Studios in NYC in a since-deleted March 2011 Tumblr post.
