Frank Ocean performs “Thinkin Bout You” at 2012 MTV Video Music Awards

Frank Ocean delivered an intimate rendition of his song “Thinkin Bout You” at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, hosted by Kevin Hart in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 6. The Staples Center was illuminated by a faux campfire and a starry night sky as Ocean sang the 2012 Channel Orange track among rocks and tall grass decorating the stage. He appeared at the VMAs after being nominated for Best Male Video, Best New Artist, and Best Direction for his 2011 music video “Swim Good,” directed by Nabil Elderkin.
Zoe Saldaña introduced Ocean and described his work as “achingly beautiful, and most of all, honest.” He was one of twelve artists to perform on the television program, including the likes of Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Calvin Harris, Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys, and Taylor Swift.
